The Power of Resilience CIC partners with local organisations who are committed to ensuring that good quality food is added to the community pantry shelves to support local residents. All our pantries are registered with the Food Standards Agency and regularly inspected.
We do apologise that sometimes the shelves are sparse or have no food on them. This is due to the ebb and flow of donations; however, we do attempt to ensure that at least some food goes onto the shelves each and every day.
How can you help us to continue to make this viable?
Bulk donations can be dropped off at:
Thompson Cross, 137 Stamford Street, Stalybridge
or at any of our partner locations Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
Smaller donations can be added to the pantries during their opening hours.
Donations of the following are most welcome:
tins, jars, fresh vegetables and fruit, baked goods, toiletries, period products, cleaning fluids, plastic-wrapped biscuits, toilet rolls, bread, vegetables and dilute squash.
How does a Community Pantry impact the community?
‘The pantry is a very big plus … I have a friend that uses it recently and feels so happy because she was able to get free needed stuff without having to go through referral process like food bank does.’
‘I know there are less fortunate people & families out there that need help & I wanted to help. It’s shocking that in this day and age people are struggling. The rich are getting richer and the ordinary man on the street is suffering. We need to help each other.’
‘It is a plus to the community, sometimes people feel shy to visit food banks becuase of some details and questions they asked, this is why this initiative is very important as no one has to make face contact with anybody.’
