24/7 Community Pantry Project

BASED AT 137 STAMFORD STREET,

THOMPSON CROSS, STALYBRIDGE

smart

The Power of Resilience CIC started working in association with Tameside Council in Jan 2023.

We are now also working in conjunction with The Anthony Seddon Fund, Aldi, Lidl, The Bread and Butter Thing, Ridge Hill Local, The Coalition of Kindness CIC and Marks and Spencer to reduce food waste by adding fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, basic food and toiletries to the shelves.

The Power of Resilience CIC has committed to ensuring that food is added to the community pantry shelves to support local residents

We do apologise that sometimes the shelves are sparse or have no food on them. This is due to the ebb and flow of donations, however, we do attempt to ensure that at least some food goes onto the shelves each and every day.

How can you help us to continue to make this viable?

Bulk donations can be dropped off at 137 Stamford Street, Stalybridge and smaller donations added to the pantry itself 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Donations of the following are most welcome: tins, jars, fresh vegetables, toiletries, period products, cleaning fluids, plastic-wrapped biscuits, toilet rolls and dilute squash.

How does the Community Pantry impact the community?

‘The pantry is a very big plus Stalybridge community. I have a friend that uses it recently and feels so happy because she was able to get free needed stuff without having to go through referral process like food bank does.’

‘I know there are less fortunate people & families out there that need help & I wanted to help. It’s shocking that in this day and age people are struggling. The rich are getting richer and the ordinary man on the street is suffering. We need to help each other.’

‘It is a plus to the community, sometimes people feel shy to visit food banks becuase of some details and questions they asked, this is why this initiative is very important as no one has to make face contact with anybody.’

‘This is a wonderful community act of kindness. I will be popping down with some small donations. Lovely to see people getting behind this project 💕’

‘I bumped into someone in B&M in Ashton and they were talking to about this. Thought it was a super idea!’

‘Well done to you all. There will be members of your community who will be extremely grateful for the support to them ❤️’

‘Great initiative. Very kind. I wish you well with this idea.’
