Green Week in partnership with GMCVO

On Monday 7th November The Power of Resilience CIC partnered with GMCVO to run a community event in Stalybridge Town Centre.

We gave our plants that had been resuscitated from Marks and Spencer that had been repotted using compost from Notcutts Garden Centres.

We also talked to local residents about our rustic arts and crafts project and about our pilot community pantry to help with the cost of living challenges.

Together Centre, Dukinfield Fundraiser and Outreach

Our stall

On Sunday 30th October 2022 we held our first outreach and fundraiser at the Together Centre in Dukinfield. Members of The Power of Resilience CIC contributed home-made products to sell including turned wood keyrings and resin pendants, driftwood sculptures, papercur art, home made cards and homegrown plants.

We also publicised our Thrive Rustic Arts and Crafts and Resilience Workshops and talked about our community work with local residents.

It was a good opportunity to get to know different people and network with other local individuals and groups. Unfortunately business was slow but most of our contributions sold at least one item.

On Sunday 23rd October six of our community members joined together for The Power of Resilience CIC’s Wellbeing afternoon at Gymetc, Stalybridge. They went in the gym, swam in the pool and enjoyed the spa, sauna and steam room.

All the group had a relaxing afternoon and have decided that this is definitely an afternoon they’d like to repeat again. Huge thanks to GymEtc for supporting community wellbeing.

On Monday 10th October a number of our group members attended the Walk for Hope on World Mental Health Day.

This consisted of a talk about Mental Health Services within Tameside and also included stalls from Bridges – Domestic Abuse Support, the police, Anthony Seddon and Tameside Mind.

This was a well attended event and enabled individuals to make links on the local community and rause the profile of discussion around mental health.

Corporate Training

Corporate training is a core part of our local offer as this helps to provide a financial income for our grassroots community support and services.

In July and August 2022 The Power of Resilience CIC piloted a Community Peer Support Training series with The Anthony Seddon Fund. 5 delegates explored resilience, protective factors and building a resilience toolkit.
