Our homeschooling groups create personalised learning in a vibrant community garden instead of the traditional school setting. We currently hold two monthly sessions.
On the 1st Thursday of each month, at 2pm, we hold a gardening session. This is an opportunity for children to engage in learning about basic gardening techniques in an organic garden. We offer resources which engage the children, help them to record their activities and familiarise them with tools and equipment used in the garden. Children will start to learn about different species of plants and vegetables and will also take home plants and vegetables to nurture at home.

On the 3rd Thursday of each month, at 2pm, we hold a cooking session. This is an opportunity for children of all ages to participate in a basic cookery skills workshop. We will be starting with skillet cookery on a gas hob, using frying, simmering and boiling techniques. We will then be progressing to grilling using a BBQ, and then in the Autumn of each year will be cooking for selected sessions on an open fire. The cookery sessions will be weather-dependent.

Neurodiversity-Inclusive
At The Power of Resilience CIC, our homeschool groups are proudly neurodiverse inclusive. We believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and empowering space to learn, grow, and thrive—just as they are.
We carefully cater for sensory needs in every session, creating a calm and supportive environment where young people can explore the world at their own pace. In both our cooking and gardening activities, we introduce new flavours, textures, and experiences gently and gradually, always guided by each individual’s comfort and needs. Whether it’s feeling different soil types, smelling fresh herbs, or tasting new ingredients, we make sure every sensory experience is optional, inclusive, and tailored, helping build confidence, curiosity, and trust in a way that supports neurodiverse learners and benefits all young people.
Our sessions are designed with flexibility, creativity, and emotional wellbeing at their heart, making them ideal for children and young people with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, or other neurodiverse experiences.
Led by Lived Experience and Expertise
Our group leader is neurodivergent herself, bringing both lived experience and over 20 years of teaching adults and young people with diverse learning needs both in mainstream colleges and in community settings. Her compassionate approach, combined with specialist knowledge, creates an environment where learners feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
We use a variety of hands-on, therapeutic, and strengths-based activities—to nurture confidence, social connection, and joy in learning.
Whether you’re a neurodiverse family or simply seeking an inclusive educational community, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
