Our Flourish gardening initiative ran for 18 months between Spring 2022 and Autumn 2023. The Power of Resilience CIC distributed over 2,500 plants and flowers to the local community.
M & S Ashton Moss and Aldi, Stalybridge donated over 1,500 wilting plants and cut flowers to The Power of Resilience CIC. In addition, community members gave us cuttings, plants, seeds and plugs and these have been nurtured and distributed once they were viable. Compost and plant pots donated by Nottcutts Ashton have been used as part of the growing process.

Local projects who have received plants include, but are not limited to The Anthony Seddon Fund, Ridge Hill Community Allotment, Birch Tree Forest Garden, Reach Community Allotment, Holy Trinity Church community garden, special needs schools in Tameside and Stockport, Intraquest, Emmaus Mossley, Action Together, Old Mill retirement complex – Housing 21, Ashton United Community Gardens Projects, Stalybridge Community Hub, Infinity Initiatives and The Coalition of Kindness CIC.
Hundreds of these plants have been distributed through our community pantry based at Thompson Cross, 137 Stamford Street, Stalybridge.
Plants and flowers we could not bring back to life were composted and the compost used to enrich the soil in the local vicinity.

We hope to revive this project in 2024 subject to funding and future support.
