The Power of Resilience started in January 2021 as an online support group for those facing hardship in the Covid-19 pandemic. In January 2022 a core group of members constituted a local community group, providing ongoing support and aftercare for those facing adverse life circumstances.
Providing volunteer and employment opportunities within Tameside, Greater Manchester and beyond, The Power of Resilience incorporated in September 2022 as a Community Interest Company continuing to fulfil its aims of building emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual resilience in the community.
Our Directors:

Julie Mallinson MSc, PGCE, BA (Hons), Cert (HE) is a compassionate leader with 30 years experience of Christian and secular resilience and mental health workshop training.
Julie has an Masters in Mental Health, Wellbeing, and Resilience and a teaching qualification in Lifelong Learning. She inspires others through her faith, life experience, and strength as a DA survivor.

Dr Natasha Barker is a children’s speech and language therapist with over 20 years of NHS experience. She assists children with chewing and swallowing difficulties, helping them and their families enjoy safe, confident, and positive mealtimes. She also supports them with communication, confidence and quality of life.
Compassionate and highly skilled, she is dedicated to evidence-based clinical and community practice.

Katy Jones was previously a volunteer for our community pantry at Thompson Cross. In her day job she is a Programme Officer (Revalidation) at NHS England, ensuring smooth doctor revalidation processes.
She is also a committed Christian, a housegroup leader, and a volunteer for the RNLI.
Key volunteers:

Andreea Marinescu has volunteered with us for three years, sharing her horticultural expertise and passion for community projects.
Fluent in French, Romanian, and Italian, she also works professionally as a court and police translator.

Tracey Bancroft is our Home School Coordinator. She is passionate about supporting our neurodiverse and additional needs young people.
She supports our families with personalised learning, gardening, and home cooking—bringing creativity, balance, and growth.

Bryan Heap has volunteered with us for three years, helping design and build our original Community Pantry at Thompson Cross.
Dedicated and reliable, he collects donations in all weathers to support those most in need.
